Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) Brownfield Clean Up Grant (Draft Application)

Attention Cherry Hill residents and stakeholders. Environmental concerns at the Patapsco Elementary School site present a severe barrier to redevelopment. The site Assessment revealed the presence of contaminated soil, lead-based paint, and asbestos.

We are seeking grant funds for all remediation efforts, including creating a remediation plan, remediation activities at the site, the setup of an Advisory Committee for selecting qualified third-party professionals, and a comprehensive community engagement process to ensure that all contaminants are appropriately managed.

Investing in the cleanup of this historic education site will unlock its potential for a future mixed-use development, including a mixed-income apartment community and an adult learning center. The successful remediation and redevelopment of the Patapsco Elementary School site will not only improve environmental health in Cherry Hill but also catalyze further private and public investment, promoting long-term revitalization and economic growth in the neighborhood.
